Holland Scholarship ( Scholarships in Netherlands for International Students)

The Dutch government has introduced a number of scholarship programmes for international students. The most popular among them is the Netherlands Scholarship, which provides financial support to those who wish to study in the country. The Netherlands Scholarship programme offers bursaries of between €1,000 and €6,000 per year depending on your nationality and academic background. However, you must also meet certain criteria such as having good command over either English or Dutch language skills before applying for this grant.

Orange Tulip Scholarship

The Orange Tulip Scholarship is offered to students who have already finished their bachelor’s degree and who want to continue studying for a master’s degree or doctorate at a Dutch university. The scholarship covers all tuition fees as well as living costs during your studies abroad. The amount of money available depends on your nationality and how long you plan on staying in the Netherlands after graduation.

Amsterdam Merit Scholarships

Amsterdam Merit Scholarships are awarded to students who are academically excellent. These students also have been admitted to study at a participating university in the Netherlands. 

The programme is open to international candidates from all over the world. They have to be accepted into Dutch universities as full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students or postgraduate researchers. It also includes those who completed their studies abroad and wish to return home after finishing their studies. Holders of master’s degrees with exceptional results. Holders of doctoral degrees with specific research topics related to art history (including visual culture) or other humanities disciplines such as archaeology, classical philology etc…

TIAS School for Business and Society Diversity Scholarships

The TIAS School for Business and Society Diversity Scholarships are a set of scholarships that can be applied for at any time during the year.

Students from developing countries are eligible to apply for these scholarships and they can include students from Cameroon, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco and Nigeria.

The Hague University of Applied Sciences Merit Scholarships

The Hague University of Applied Sciences offers merit scholarships to students from non-EU countries. You will be required to apply for a place in a degree programme at the university. Amsterdam Science Talent Scholarship (A-STAR)

A-STAR is a scholarship for students from outside the European Union. It helps them to study at one of the participating universities in Netherlands. And provides financial support for their studies as well as accommodation and living costs during their stay.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must meet all of these criteria:

  • You have been admitted to an academic institution within one of the participating universities;
  • Your English language skills are good enough to enable you to study at a Dutch university;
  • You are interested in studying medicine or health science at University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC UU). Radboud University Nijmegen (RUN), or University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG).

If you’re a student from outside the European Union and you have been admitted to one of the universities participating in the programme. Then you can apply for one of the Holland Scholarships.

You must be applying for your first degree or diploma program at an institution that is part of the Erasmus+ Programme. And have completed at least two years of higher education (or three years if studying abroad). The scholarship covers all costs incurred by students who come from low-income countries. As well as students from countries with which there are no bilateral exchange agreements.


The Netherlands is a great place to study. And you can get good scholarships if you are from outside the European Union.
